What failing gutters actually cost you

Greater Charlotte Contracting installs, repairs, and replaces gutters throughout the Greater Charlotte metro. If water is pooling against your foundation, pulling away from the fascia, or spilling over the front edge during a hard rain, the gutter system is the problem and it's one we fix directly. Clint has over 20 years of hands-on roofing and exterior construction experience, and gutters are almost always part of that conversation. We carry a 5-star rating across 17 Google reviews. Call (704) 957-5323 and we'll take a look.

Gutter work ranges from a simple re-pitch and resealing on a single run to a full seamless aluminum replacement on a two-story home. What drives the price up or down: linear footage, gutter profile (5-inch K-style is standard; 6-inch handles higher roof pitches), downspout count, whether the fascia board underneath is rotted and needs replacing first, and whether gutter guards are part of the scope. Every job is different, contact Greater Charlotte Contracting for an accurate estimate.

Gutter Work We Handle Gutter Work

From a single leaking seam to a whole-house seamless system, here's what we do.

seamless gutter installation work, professional service in Charlotte, NC

Seamless Gutter Installation

We install seamless aluminum gutters cut to length on-site, which eliminates most of the seams where leaks start. Available in standard K-style profiles. Properly sloped and fastened with hidden hangers spaced to handle the weight of a Carolina downpour.

Gutter Repair

Sagging sections, separated seams, loose end caps, and gutters that have pulled away from the fascia are all repairable without replacing the whole run. We assess what's actually failing and fix that, not everything in sight.

Downspout Work

A clogged or undersized downspout defeats the purpose of the gutter above it. We clear blockages, reposition outlets that dump water too close to the foundation, and add downspout extensions where the discharge is landing in the wrong place.

Gutter Guard Installation

Gutter guards aren't a magic fix, but the right style on the right house significantly reduces how often you need to clean them. We'll tell you honestly whether guards make sense for your roof pitch and tree situation, not just sell them.

Fascia and Soffit Assessment

Gutters that have been leaking for a while often hide rotted fascia behind them. We check the board before we hang anything new. Installing new gutters over bad wood is a repair that fails in two years.

Gutter Cleaning

Debris-packed gutters overflow exactly like gutters that aren't there at all. If the system is otherwise sound, a cleaning is all you need. We clear the gutters, flush the downspouts, and confirm everything is flowing correctly before we leave.

How a Gutter Job Goes Gutter Job

  1. 01

    We Look at It First

Clint comes out and walks the perimeter. He's looking at slope, fascia condition, downspout placement, and where water is actually going. A gutter estimate without a site visit is a guess.

  2. 02

    Honest Scope, Written Quote

You get a clear written estimate before anything starts. If we find rotted fascia or a problem that changes the scope, we tell you before we fix it, not after.

  3. 03

    Installation and Cleanup

We do the work, flush the downspouts to confirm flow, and clean up completely. If something's not draining the way it should, we don't leave until it is.

What to Know

Signs Your Gutters Need Attention Now

  1. 01

Gutters pulling away from the fascia

The hangers have failed or the fascia behind them is rotted. Either way, the gutter isn't draining where it should.

  2. 02

Water staining on siding below the gutter

Overflow or a failed seam. The water's going somewhere, usually behind the siding if it keeps up.

  3. 03

    Pooling at the foundation

Downspouts discharging too close, or a slope problem sending water the wrong direction. Foundation repairs cost orders of magnitude more than a gutter fix.

  4. 04

    Overflow during normal rain

Either the gutters are packed with debris, the profile is undersized for the roof area, or the slope is off. All three are fixable.

Honest Advice

When We'll Tell You Not to Replace Them Not to Replace Them

Plenty of homeowners call expecting to hear they need all-new gutters. Honestly, a lot of them don't. If the profile is the right size, the aluminum isn't corroded through, and the fascia is solid, we can usually re-pitch the sections that are sagging, reseal the joints that have opened up, and get another decade out of what's there. A full replacement makes sense when the existing gutters are the wrong size for the roof, the material has failed, or the fascia underneath is too far gone to support new hangers. We won't quote a full replacement just because it's a bigger ticket. That's not how we work. Our exterior renovation jobs across the Greater Charlotte area include a lot of gutter assessments, and more often than not a targeted repair is the right call. If your roof is being replaced at the same time, that's usually the best moment to replace gutters too. The crew is already up there and the marginal cost is lower.

Gutter Questions Worth Answering

How long do aluminum gutters last in this climate?
Properly installed seamless aluminum gutters typically last 20 years or more. The variables that shorten that lifespan around here are pine needles and debris packing into the gutters and holding moisture against the metal, and improperly sloped sections that never fully drain. Gutter guards and annual cleaning extend the life significantly.
What size gutters does most residential work need?
Most single-story homes do fine with 5-inch K-style gutters. A steeper roof pitch, a large roof plane dumping into a single valley, or a two-story home with significant run will typically need 6-inch gutters to handle the volume during heavy rain. We assess the roof area and pitch before recommending a profile, undersized gutters overflow regardless of how well they're installed.
Do gutter guards actually work?
Some do. The honest answer is that it depends on the guard type and your specific tree situation. Micro-mesh guards handle pine needles and fine debris much better than basic screen or reverse-curve styles. No guard eliminates maintenance entirely, but the right one on the right house can cut cleaning frequency from twice a year to every few years.
Can I bundle gutter work with a roof replacement?
Yes, and it's usually the smartest time to do it. When we're already replacing a roof, the labor overlap means gutter replacement costs less than scheduling it as a separate job. We'll assess the existing gutters during the roofing estimate and include that scope if replacement makes sense. Sharon Ruiz noted exactly this combination in her review.
What happens if the fascia board behind my gutters is rotted?
We replace the fascia before we hang the new gutters. Fastening new gutters to rotted wood means they'll pull free within a season or two. This is one of the reasons we assess the fascia condition before quoting, it changes the scope and we'd rather tell you upfront than surprise you mid-job. It's also why a gutter estimate without a site visit is usually unreliable.
How do downspout placement and length affect foundation drainage?
Downspouts need to discharge at least 4 to 6 feet from the foundation to be effective, and the ground should slope away from the house at that point. A downspout that dumps directly at the foundation wall, or one that's too short to clear a garden bed, is concentrating exactly the water you're trying to move. We check outlet placement on every gutter job. If the curb appeal of a downspout extension bothers you, there are in-ground options that redirect water underground.
